THE PROGRAMME ABOUT BUDE
New Orleans comes to Cornwall!    Bude is the small and unspoilt seaside town on Cornwall’s beautiful Atlantic Coast that hosts one of Britain’s leading jazz festivals. The Twenty-second Bude Jazz Festival packed 166 jazz events into the eight days from Saturday 29 August to Saturday 5 September 2009.  A single stroller ticket gaive admission to all but two of these events.  In addition, Dance Workshops were held each morning from Sunday to Friday, and there was a nightly after–hours Jam Session. In the Dance Marquee, 2008
After hours at the Adventure Centre, 2008 You could come and go as you pleased, using your stroller ticket to visit a wide variety of jazz sessions every lunchtime, afternoon and evening from midday on 29 August to early afternoon on 5 September.  The music on offer ranged from blues and ragtime to mainstream and bop with an especially rich choice of old-style New Orleans and classic jazz.  Alongside Britain’s finest jazz musicians we featured quality acts from overseas, and many more new young musicians from the international scene.
There were nearly twenty different indoor venues, most within easy walking distance of each other; all were linked by continuous bus services, free of charge to Festival ticket-holders.  These venues included pubs, hotels, small halls and restaurants – comfortable and informal surroundings that help to create Bude Jazz Festival’s friendly and relaxed atmosphere.  In addition to good listening facilities, there was a dedicated dance marquee, offering swing, jive and New Orleans bands from 12.45 pm till 11 at night. There was also a late night jazz club featuring a jam session, courtesy of The Strand Hotel, whom we were delighted to welcome back as hosts of two very popular venues. Adventure Centre staff join the fun, 2008
The Brass Volcanoes infiltrate the audience at the Globe, 2008 The twenty-third Festival will take place from 28 August to 4 September 2010.  Preliminary details will appear on this site around the end of December. Until then, for more information about the Festival telephone 01288-356360 or 01594-516834.
